Strong Debut: Biliński scores first ever polish podium in FIA Formula 3
Biliński made quite the impression during his FIA Formula 3 debut this weekend in Melbourne, delivering a standout performance that saw him make history by earning a podium in the sprint race and valuable points in the feature race on Sunday under very challenging conditions.
Starting third in Saturday’s sprint, the Rodin Motorsport driver quickly found himself in a fierce battle at the front of the grid. Although he slipped to fifth position after the first few corners, Biliński fought back with determination, advancing to second, but then dropped back and settled into third for the remainder of the race. Managing the gap behind while eyeing the leaders ahead, he was eager to try for a win near the end. However, a crash further down the field led to the race ending behind the safety car, securing Biliński’s third place — the best result ever for a Polish driver in FIA Formula 3 history, and the first podium for a Pole at Melbourne’s Albert Park since Robert Kubica over a decade ago.
“I wanted to finish P1,” said the Polish driver. “But we gave it our all, and for my first time racing in FIA Formula 3, being on the podium is a good job by myself and the team,” Biliński reflected after the Sprint Race on Saturday.
On Sunday, Biliński started tenth in the feature race under heavy rain. Despite poor visibility and low grip, he was one of the most active drivers on track, making bold moves, including a clean overtake on Ugo Ugochukwu. Later in the race, Biliński closed in on Stenshorne, but his progress was interrupted by a safety car following Christian Ho’s crash. The race was called off early, and Biliński secured ninth place, adding two more points to his tally.
“Overall, a good race — taking a couple of points and finishing both races this weekend is good for my first time in Formula 3,” Biliński said. “Of course, getting the podium yesterday was amazing. It’s a great result for me and the team. Now let’s keep pushing forward. We have official testing in Bahrain next, then the race there — so let’s keep going!”
Biliński scored a total of 10 points throughout the weekend, making a very strong statement in his FIA F3 debut.
